As part of their #UpgradeYourWorldUK campaign, Microsoft have generously provided UK Youth with funding to support our new initiative, Youth of the Year Awards
This awards ceremony, held inside Buckingham Palace, will celebrate and promote the great work that young people do outside of formal education with their youth clubs or youth organisations. A young person from each nation (Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland and England) will be selected to receive an award and grant to honour their achievements and difference made in their local communities.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and organisation to achieve more; and from this, they have recognised the value of UK Youth’s work and have selected us as a beneficiary.
Microsoft have been incredible supporters of UK Youth over the last three years – most notably through our national programme, Microsoft Youth Hubs, which has helped over 9,000 young people across the country to develop their digital literacy skills. This programme is part of Microsoft’s global initiative YouthSpark.
UK Youth being chosen to benefit from Microsoft’s Upgrade Your World campaign is another clear example of their great commitment to our work.
Anna Smee, CEO of UK Youth says:
“There are so many stories about our inspiring young people that we could tell – that we want to tell,” says Anna Smee, CEO of UK Youth. “Upgrade Your World will really help us to do just that. Our partnership with Microsoft will support our Youth of The Year Awards: a new initiative designed to celebrate the fantastic work that young people do throughout the UK, and inspire others to reach their full potential.”
Hugh Milward, Director of Corporate Affairs, Microsoft UK says:
“Microsoft UK’s partnership with UK Youth has been hugely rewarding; both for us and the thousands of young people we have reached out to together through our Youth Hubs initiative. We are, therefore, delighted that the additional funds made available through ‘UpgradeYourWorld’ will enable innovative new projects such as the ‘Youth of The Year Awards.”
